New Clothes for Snake

  • To wear a tuxedo, beat the game twice on the same memory card slot (play over your last game.) The third time you start up the game Snake will remove his thermal suit in the elevator and be clothed in a tuxedo.

    Cut-Scene Collection

  • Simply complete the game and look in the Special menu for a collection of all the cut scenes throughout the game.

    Fun with Psycho Mantis

  • A. Before you go up against Psycho Mantis(one of my favorite parts of the game), save several Konami games to your memory card, and he'll talk about how you like that/those particular game(s). When I was playing, he talked about how I liked Castlevania. For a while, I wondered what the hell was going on!

    B. When playing Psycho Mantis, you must plug your contoller into the second slot. This makes the task of beating him much easier as he cannot read your mind now.

    C. Twice while you're fighting Mantis the screen will go completely black and the word "HIDEO" will appear. This is just a little gag the maker of the game, Hideo Kojima, put in.

    Defeating Liquid

  • You must fight Liquid Snake five times in this game. Two are kinda tricky and the others are fairly easy. But all will be that much easier with this little guide on defeating Snake's evil twin.

    A. The first time you face Liquid will be when you're repelling down the side of the building. This part is very easy. Just keep pressing the X button to jump off of the wall and repel down. You'll touch the gas a few times, but you probably won't get shot. No matter what, you'll make it down without too much struggle.

    B. The second time is a little bit harder. Now he's in a Hind D. You must take cover in between the two buildings and come out when you see he's about to come back up. Look at your radar for help. When he comes up, change to the Stinger and shoot him once. Then change back to something else and take cover behind the two buildings very quickly.

    C. The third time is the hardest. He's no inside of Metal Gear! However, he can be defeated without much struggle. But you MUST stay close to him. I don't mean right between his legs, but very close. This is because when you are close he can't shoot his missiles, which are the only dangerous weapons he has. He also has a laser and regular bullets. Get close to him and wait until he shoots his laser. Dodge it and immediately change to the Stinger and get off a shot at the thing on his left shoulder. After a few shots there will be a cut-scene and you'll have to go after him again. The same strategy is required. If you do accidentally get far enough away from him for him to shoot some missiles, don't worry. You can hear them coming a mile away, and as long as you're not too far away from him, you can just run straight toward him and the missiles won't hit you. Just remember, he shoots his missiles in pairs of threes, so don't think you're safe if you see one of the missiles land and not hit you.

    D. The fourth time is only hard on the highest difficulty settings. Now you're fighting Liquid hand-to-hand. Just get off some punches and get the hell out of the way when he starts to duck. Your final blow that takes all the life out of him must be enough to knock him off of Metal Gear or he will get back up and gain a bit of life back. And you must defeat him in under three minutes.

    E. This is the last battle of the game, and it's not to hard. Now you're in the back of a jeep and you've mounted one mighty gun. Liquid is following fast behind you in a jeep of his own. You need to shoot in first-person mode and don't stop shooting until you get to the end of the tunnel. Enjoy the end of the game! Be sure to watch all the way through the credits for an interesting ending and your final time and ranking.

    Frustrating Mei Ling

  • Call Mei Ling several times and listen to what she has to say, but don't save. After a while, she'll get mad and stick her tongue out at you.

    Embarassing Meryl

  • Stare at Meryl in first-person mode for a long time and she'll start to blush and ask you what you're doing.

    Torture Room

  • At Ocelot's Torture Rack, don't submit to get the "Good" ending and go ahead and submit to the torture to get the "Bad" ending.

    Fun at the Torture Room

  • After the whole torture ordeal, crawl under the bed while the guard is there and he'll ask what the hell you're doing. Start punching and kicking and he'll tell you to shut up. When he goes to the bathroom, you can use the ketchup to get out by laying down and quirting some ketchup to make it look like you're bleeding, or eventually, the Ninja comes and saves you.

    Getting Special Items

  • To get the bandana: Beat the game and get the "Good" ending. To get the good ending you can't submit to the torture. At the end, Meryl will give you a bandana. This gives you infinite ammo when you're wearing it.

    To get the stealth camouflage: Beat the game and get the "Bad" ending. To get the bad ending you must submit to the torture. At the end, Otacon gives you his stealth suit. Now you're invisible to all the bad guys except bosses when you wear it!

    To get the camera: After acquiring the level 6 keycard, go back to the Armory and go to the room just before the room where you fought Revolver Ocelot. There is another bombable wall you can blow up with your C4. Inside is the Camera and some other goodies. But watch out for the gun surveillance cameras. Anyway, with the Camera you got, you can now take pictures and if you take pictures of certain things, there will be a "Ghost" image of one of the game's developers.
